• The Sex Factor

    There are very few things in the marketing world that will stir more feeling and emotion than sex.

    We have all heard “Sex Sells”. Well guess what; it does!

    Pictures of hot sexy women will create more emotion and feeling than just about any other visual in advertising and sex has been used since there have been marketers.

    This is not a new concept; it has been used successfully for many years, by most all major advertisers in thousands upon thousands of successful campaigns. It is used in marketing more than anything else, because it works.

    Here is a quote from the classic “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill

    “Sex is the most powerful of human emotion. When driven by this desire men develop  keenness of imagination, courage, will power, persistence and creative ability unknown to them at other times…..the emotion of sex is an irresistible force against which there can be no opposition as an immovable body. When driven by this emotion men become gifted with a super power for action….the emotion of sex contains the secret creative ability”.

    Great marketers are masters at emotional selling. These are the same principles that you must learn yourself, if you have areas in your life you want to improve or change.

    One of the first things a salesperson needs to learn to be successful is that you must get your customer emotionally involved. Emotional selling is simply transference of feeling, so you must be careful how you feel if you are selling face to face or using other direct contact. If you are using another media format your first concern must be how it will be perceived by your customer. How will this make them feel?

    We have all experienced times when we felt powerful and could accomplish anything and we have also experienced times when we felt insecure, weak and insignificant. People are naturally attracted to powerful, positive people and their ideas, because they want what you have.  The opposite is true when you feel insecure, no one wants any of that.

    I have used these methods very successfully for many years. I have set sales records that have never been broken and I have also built successful businesses using these same techniques. They work no matter what you are selling, including yourself. The toughest sale a successful salesperson will ever make is himself, after he is sold on himself everything else is a piece of cake.

    I remember being told the easiest thing to do is to make a million dollars; the hardest is to believe it!  

    I found this to be 100% accurate

    This also explains why positive thinking alone is not enough to make any kind of lasting change and why so many people are disappointed by books like “The Secret”. While the book is not wrong they simply do not go far enough for some people to get the results they are after.

    You not only have to think the thoughts, you have to feel those thoughts. Only then will you take the required action needed that will bring about the change you are looking for.

    Marketers and Politicians are masters of manipulating your mind with emotional messages. They know what stirs up feeling and emotion and how to get you to take the action they desire. It works beyond any doubt!

    There is a plethora of information on emotional triggers and how to use them to make positive changes in your life, including financial freedom, fighting depression, etc. We all have these triggers and we can create them to get the results we want very easily; you just have to know how to  use them.

    Let me give you an example…

    Do you have a song that makes you feel a certain way when you hear it? Do you have a scent that makes you feel a certain way? What sounds make you feel good? And what sounds make you feel not so good? We all have certain things that automatically bring up certain moods, emotions and feelings. Has your mood ever changed or you started feeling discouraged and you didn’t even know why? Something happened that also similarly happened in your past and triggered the same feeling, because that’s what your sub-conscience associated it with.

    What you probably didn’t  know is that you can create new triggers or change negative ones to produce positive results you want in your life.

    Marketers and other professionals understand there are certain things that stir emotion in almost everyone and sex is one of those things that have a big visual trigger. Now it may be a different feeling for different people, but none the less, it stirs up feelings and emotion good and bad. For the most part a hot sexy women stirs up good feelings in men and some women, but other women may be disgusted or turned off by it.

    The lesson here is not that sex sells, it does, whether you agree with its use or not.

    The real lesson is…..

    The same principle can be used to make any change desired in your life. It takes more than positive thinking; it also takes feeling and emotion which initiates action.
